Understanding Taipei&#8217;s transit system will make it much easier to choose the best area for your stay.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Zhongzheng: The Best Area to Stay in Taipei for First-Time Visitors<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If I had to recommend just one area to stay in Taipei, it would be Zhongzheng. More specifically, the northern part of the district, close to the border with <strong>Zhongshan<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Its biggest advantage is location. <strong>From here, you can easily reach almost every part of Taipei using the MRT, regional trains, or Taiwan&#8217;s High-Speed Rail (HSR)<\/strong>. If you&#8217;re visiting for just a few days and want to see as much as possible, staying here is incredibly convenient. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another reason I love this area is that it&#8217;s almost perfectly positioned between many of Taipei&#8217;s most interesting neighborhoods. has some fantastic food options.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It wouldn&#8217;t be my first recommendation for someone visiting Taipei for the first time, but it&#8217;s an excellent choice for digital nomads, slow travelers, or anyone spending several weeks in Taiwan.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Pros: <\/strong>More affordable accommodation, excellent local food scene and good MRT connections to Taipei.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Cons:<\/strong> Fewer tourist attractions and longer travel times to some sights.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">My Favorite Hotel in Yonghe: <\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In my opinion <a href=\"https:\/\/booking.stay22.com\/guadiviajando\/x9f2iG5W9M\" title=\"\">Fooyee Hotel<\/a>, the best accommodation option in the area thanks to its location, comfort, and overall value. <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-6 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><\/figure>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where I Would NOT Stay in Taipei<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If it&#8217;s your first time visiting Taipei, I would avoid staying too far from a major MRT station.<br\/>Trust me, there&#8217;s a huge difference between waiting five minutes for the next train and spending thirty minutes just getting to the station. Taipei has so much to see and explore that those extra minutes quickly add up.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I would also avoid staying near the airport unless you have a very early flight the next morning. While airport hotels can seem convenient, you&#8217;ll spend a lot more time commuting into the city and miss out on experiencing Taipei&#8217;s neighborhoods after dark.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) About Where to Stay in Taipei<\/h2>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is the best area to stay in Taipei?<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For first-time visitors, Zhongzheng is probably the best area to stay in Taipei thanks to its central location, excellent transportation connections, and easy access to the rest of the city. I especially recommend the northern part of the district, close to Zhongshan. A close second is Da\u2019an, which offers a slightly more local atmosphere while still being very well connected by MRT.  <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is it worth staying near Taipei Main Station?<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Absolutely. Taipei Main Station is one of the most convenient areas in the city, especially if you plan to use public transportation frequently or take day trips to other parts of Taiwan.<br\/>You&#8217;ll have access to the MRT, regional trains, the High-Speed Rail (HSR), and direct airport connections, making it one of the most practical bases for exploring both Taipei and the rest of the country. <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where should I stay in Taipei on a budget?<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you&#8217;re planning a longer stay, Yonghe usually offers better value and a more local experience.<br\/>For shorter trips, I would look at capsule hotels and budget accommodations around Taipei Main Station, where you can often find excellent locations without spending a fortune. <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is the safest area in Taipei?<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Taipei is widely considered one of the safest cities in Asia.<br\/>All of the neighborhoods mentioned in this guide are safe for visitors, including Zhongzheng, Da\u2019an, Ximending, Datong, Xinyi, and Yonghe.<br\/>Of course, it&#8217;s always important to use common sense and stay aware of your surroundings, just as you would in any major city. That said, Taipei has a very low crime rate and is generally an extremely comfortable destination for travelers. <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How many days should you spend in Taipei?<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I recommend spending at least 3 to 5 full days in Taipei to explore the city&#8217;s main attractions, neighborhoods, night markets, and nearby day trips.<br\/>If you enjoy hiking, you may want to add another couple of days. The surrounding New Taipei area offers countless trails, mountain viewpoints, waterfalls, and outdoor adventures that many visitors never get the chance to experience.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Taiwan is one of the most complete and rewarding destinations I&#8217;ve visited.
